INVESTING IN PROPERTY

Warwick Brookes – Buyers Agent

I want to share with you some strategies we look at when thinking of starting a property investment portfolio.

Be aware of the BBQ conversation. Who are you taking advice from and who is on your team? When you have made the decision to secure your future by investing in property, who you turn to for advice is critical. Whilst it is recommended that you complete your due diligence and research, too much information and who you take advice from can make or break your investing dreams.

It amazes me how many people say to me: I heard the other night at a barbecue that you should invest in x type of property or y location.” Be wary of the BBQ conversation and the free advice given at the dinner party. Good advice doesn’t come for free. You must surround yourself with trusted, experienced, and independent advisors.

Create your own team of advisors. Your team will include a financial planner, a finance broker, solicitor, accountant, and a property advocate. Make sure your team have your interests at heart and agree on the overall strategy. After understanding your personal circumstances and careful consideration, your team will tailor advice specifically for you on structures, financing options, legalities, tax obligations, asset selection and disposal, and ongoing property management. Only take advice from your dream team — a strong team that provides you with sound and accurate advice, will ensure your success in property investing.
